The red light came on for Carlos Correa (29) to the New York Mets.
New York media SNY quoted a source on the 7th (Korean time) and said, “The Mets are very disappointed in the negotiations with Correa. They are seriously considering canceling this deal.”
In the prolonged negotiations, it is difficult to find an agreement.
Initially, on the 14th of last month, Correa agreed to a 13-year, 350 million dollar (approximately 441 billion won) free agent (FA) contract with the San Francisco Giants. However, a week later, the contract with San Francisco was canceled due to disagreements about the medical test.
The Mets immediately offered Correa a 12-year, $315 million 토토 (approximately 396.9 billion won) contract, becoming the protagonist of this free agent market reversal.
However, the Mets also questioned Correa’s physical condition. As renegotiations took place after the medical test, the contract has not yet been completed.
Both San Francisco and the Mets have taken issue with Correa’s right ankle, which he underwent surgery in 2014. Correa’s side counters that he is playing the game without any ankle problems.
Year after year, the tug-of-war continues. Until recently, the prevailing prospect was that Mets and Correa would join hands by amending the terms of the contract, but now the atmosphere seems to be changing.
“The two sides have been in constant communication, but have yet to agree terms of the contract that will protect the Mets from injury-related risks,” the media said.
It is known that Correa has started discussing contracts with clubs other than the Mets.
Negotiations with the Mets are not yet over. The media said, “Currently, both sides are trying to resolve the issue without stopping negotiations.”
