“It’s not the Suwon FC of old”…’4 straight losses’ coach Kim Do-gyun’s ‘intentional remarks’

Suwon FC head coach Kim Do-gyun gave a sobering assessment of his team.

Suwon lost 0-2 to Suwon FC in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at Suwon Sports Complex at 6 p.m. on Aug. 28. With the loss, Gwangju is in eighth place with five wins, three draws and seven losses (18 points), while Suwon is in 10th place with four wins, three draws and eight losses (15 points) and has suffered four consecutive defeats.

Suwon had lost three straight games prior to this match. The team hadn’t won since May 6 against Gangwon and was in desperate need of a turnaround. The defense, which had been consistently pointed out as a weakness, hadn’t been improved, and scoring, which had been a strength, wasn’t happening.

Despite playing with desperation, Suwon was pushed back by Gwangju from the start. Gwangju continued to harass the Suwon defense with Lee Hee-gyun and Thomas up front, while Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Sun-min in the center completely dominated the Suwon midfield.

Gwangju finally got on the board. In the 32nd minute of the second half, Gwangju won a corner kick and Timo finished off a loose ball with a header. Gwangju doubled their lead shortly thereafter. In the 39th minute, Asani’s direct shot after a breakthrough deflected off the defense and into the net. The game ended with a 2-0 Gwangju victory and Suwon’s fourth straight loss.

Head coach Kim Do-gyun had mixed feelings. After the game, Kim said, “Many fans came to see us in the rain at home, but we lost. I think we need to reflect deeply on ourselves. The players should also think seriously and prepare for the upcoming matches.”

He continued, “The players were not good enough as professional players, both in terms of performance and attitude. I take all the blame,메이저놀이터 but the players should also think about it. The team is going in a direction we don’t want, and we need to prepare well,” he said, pointing out the players’ performance and attitude.

It’s a far cry from last season. Suwon FC has traditionally been a team that concedes a lot of goals, but has made a name for itself with its focus and attacking prowess. This season, however, they have lost four straight games and are in 10th place.

Coach Kim Do-gyun said, “This season, we haven’t seen much of the Suwon FC that follows through. The reactions after conceding a goal are different from the previous Suwon FC. It’s not enough to chase after a goal, and it’s not enough to push the opponent,” he said.

Finally, Kim Do-gyun gave a sobering assessment of himself, saying, “I am also lacking a lot as a coach, and I feel that it is a crisis.”
